THE RENAISSANCE COMPANY

The Renaissance Company is Renaissance Performing Arts Company’s elite musical theatre training program and competition team for students aged 12-18. This program is intended to strengthen a student’s comprehensive knowledge of theatre as an art form and create a space where artistry and diversity are celebrated. 

 

The Renaissance Company offers students the opportunity to perform and develop their craft while receiving instruction and training from a team of industry professionals. Company members receive coaching in numerous acting techniques, music theory and vocal performance, and company-wide dance training.

In 2025, Renaissance Company members will have the opportunity to travel and compete at Musical Theatre Competitions of America, an international musical theatre competition, to showcase their hard work and skills.  As the Renaissance Company continues to grow, we plan to travel to the Junior Theater Festival, Dance Excellence, and more performing arts workshops and competitions.

To audition for Renaissance Company, fill out the form below:

VIDEO AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Please begin the audition video by stating the students name and age.

Voice:

Potential Company Members should submit no more than 60 seconds of a song that showcases their personality and vocal abilities. A live accompanist or a track must be used while recording their vocal audition, a capella submissions will not be considered.

Dance:

Potential Company Members should submit a short video showcasing their movement quality.  Any style, genre, or performance footage showing the students movement will be accepted.

Acting:

No formal monologue or reading is required, but if the potential Company Members have any significant acting or performing experience, a video showcasing their talents may also be submitted. 

WEEKLY REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

All Company rehearsals will take place at Renaissance PAC's Studios

TUESDAY

7:00PM - 9:30PM

SATURDAY

1:00PM - 4:30PM

Friday rehearsals may be added as the team grows nearer to competitions and performances.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

VOCAL TRAINING

The Renaissance Company receives elite vocal coaching to refine their technique, expand their vocal range, and enhance their performance quality. The curriculum covers a diverse range of musical theatre styles, focusing on advanced breath control, music theory, dynamic expression, and stage presence. Company members will work on challenging solo pieces, intricate harmonies, and emotionally compelling storytelling through song. As part of The Renaissance Company monthly tuition, each Company member is able to choose from two options to continue their vocal training outside of the rehearsal process. Company members can choose EITHER (a) to participate in Musical Theatre Singing Styles (Thursday 7:00-8:00pm) or (b) receive a $50 monthly credit to be applied to Private Voice Lessons.

DANCE TRAINING

Dance training in this program is designed to push students to their limits, focusing on advanced techniques and dynamic movement. As part of The Renaisssance Company monthly tuition, each Company member will receive an individualized recommendation for one of Renaissance PAC's dance technique classes. These Director-recommended classes are intended to grow the technical dance bases of the Renaissance Company. Renaissance Company members are encourgaed to take Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Tap classes in their skill level. ACTING TECHNIQUES

Acting instruction focuses on character development, emotional depth, and nuanced storytelling using various acting methods such as Stanislavski and Chekhov. Company members will engage in intensive scene study, monologue work, and improvisation, learning to embody complex characters and deliver authentic, compelling performances that resonate with audiences.

COMPETITION AND PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

In 2025, Renaissance Company members will have the opportunity to travel and compete at Musical Theatre Competitions of America, an international musical theatre competition, providing students with unparalleled opportunities to showcase their talent and artistry. As the Renaissance Company continues to grow, we plan to travel to the Junior Theater Festival, Dance Excellence, and more performing arts workshops and competitions. These experiences are essential for building confidence, stage presence, and the ability to perform under pressure at the highest level and prepare company members for a future in the performing arts industry.

COLLABORATIVE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

The Renaissance Company fosters a culture of excellence, teamwork, and mutual support, where students are encouraged to push their boundaries, support their peers, and strive for artistic excellence. Company members collaborate on challenging ensemble pieces, share creative ideas, and inspire each other to reach new heights of performance excellence.

MENTORSHIP

The Renaissance Company will receive personalized mentorship and guidance from industry professionals, including directors, choreographers, and vocal coaches, who provide invaluable insights and advice on navigating the competitive world of musical theatre. Through our extensive network of industry connections, Renaissance Company members will have the opportunity to attend workshops and masterclasses covering audition techniques, career development, and industry insights, preparing students for success in the professional theatre world.

TUITION AND FEES

  • TUITION
    Tuition is charged monthly on the first of each month from September-April. $225/mo: Includes two (2) Company Rehearsals as well as one (1) Dance Class selected from a list of recommendations by Directors, and EITHER (a) Musical Theatre Singing Styles (Thursdays, 7:00-8:00pm), or (b) a $50.00 monthly credit* towards Private Voice Lessons. *this credit is intended to be used as a substitution for a voice class and may only be applied to Private Voice
  • STUDIO FEES
    $100 Recital Fee: A one time fee (billed upon registration) that will cover all additional costs for your Company Member's performance in our end of the year Renaissance Showcase. $200 Costumes: A one time fee (billed on October 1st) that will cover all of the costumes required for MTCA Competition.
  • COMPETITION FEES
    $600 MTCA Wristband: It is the intention of the Directors that our first Fundraiser will cover the fee for your Company Member's MTCA Wristband. Their wristband includes all group entries, masterclasses, workshops, special concerts, as well as a full-day ticket to Knott's Berry Farm inBuena Park, California.Additional fees will apply if your Company Member chooses to enter in an additional category (Monologue, Solo, Duo, Musical Theatre Dance, Technical Theatre). $500* Flight to California: This fee will be covered by our second fundraiser happening through our company. This fee covers the cost of a round trip plane ticket to travel to and from California. *please note this number is an estimation. We continue to work with travel professionals to reduce this cost. $220 Hotel/Lodging for MTCA: Company Members will be housed 4 to a room, supervised by chaperones. This fee will be the only fee not covered by a fundraiser. Any additional fundraising from the first and second rounds will be applied to this cost, and the remainder will be billed to family account.
  • OPTIONAL CHAPERONE FEES
    Although we do not require Company Members to travel with an accompanying adult, Directors would like to maintain a 4 Company members to 1 chaperone ratio. If you are interested in traveling as a chaperone to MTCA, please reach out to aubrey@renaissancepac.org for more information about chaperone responsibilities. Chaperones are eligible to join fundraising efforts to cover the cost of their travel. $335 Chaperone MTCA Wristband: This wristband includes observer entry to open masterclasses, workshops, special concerts, as well as a full-day ticket to Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. $500* Flight to California: This fee will be covered by our second fundraiser happening through our company. This fee covers the cost of a round trip plane ticket to travel to and from California. *please note this number is an estimation. We continue to work with travel professionals to reduce this cost. $440 Chaperone Hotel/Lodging for MTCA: This fee is estimating 2 Chaperones per room.
  • FUNDRAISING
    The goal of Renaissance Performing Arts Company is to make a career in the performing arts accessible to students of all backgrounds and we are determined to secure the resources needed for success on the competition stage. Through lively performances, strategic partnerships, and creative campaigns, Renaissance PAC will provide multiple opportunities for Renaissance Company members to fundraise competition and travel fees.
